Preventive Care

It is our endeavor to instruct our patients to care for their smile so they can avoid costly repair work. We teach proper techniques each patient can use at home to prevent the teeth and gums from deteriorating. This includes proper brushing, flossing and oral hygiene instructions. For some of our patients we prescribe flouride for daily use, or special mouth rinses for periodontal problems. Restorative care

We restore teeth with the highest quality dental filling materials available. There are many choices, and you should decide based on fact, not fiction. The vast majority of fillings we place are mercury free composite resins. Other choices include laboratory processed resic and porcelain fillings and gold and porcelain inlays.A great source of information is the American Dental Association at www.ada.org/public/topics/fillings_faq.asp

Endodontic treatment

Endodontic (root canal) treatment is indicated when the pulp, or nerve, of a tooth has died. This dead tissue inside the tooth will form an abcess resulting in pain and swelling. The goal of a root canal procedure is to remove the dead tissue, thoroughly clean out the internal chamber and canal and then place a sterile, inert filling. No, it's not painful umder most circumstances, and here at Horizon we are very very good at them. We have the latest instrumentation and techniques to provide a comfortable procedure and a predictable result.

For information about TMJ treatment, click on this link to learn why the NTI appliance is helpful in resolving headaches and joint and muscle pain. After the use of an NTI to relieve such symptoms, the bite (occlusion) may be adjusted to keep the problem from returning. www.nti-tss.com
